End of Year Gathering
The Christmas Luncheon was started to provide a nice event for alumni to gather at the end of each year. It allows the outgoing Association officers and board members to be thanked for their service during the past year while the incoming officers and board members are introduced. The Christmas Luncheon has been popular from the beginning, often having over 200 attendees when it was previously held at the Fawcett Center for Tomorrow on The Ohio State University campus.
Through the years we have had a variety of entertainment at the Christmas Luncheon. One of the more popular was when West Choir Director, Phil Wallace ‘72, brought the West High School Show Choir to perform. They were an excellent group of students who provided a superior, entertaining program. Then, when we learned about the Alumni Dance Band, we started the tradition of inviting them to provide our pre- and post-dinner entertainment. Some years we even have had a few alumni take to the dance floor while the band is playing!
Silent Auction
A few years ago, we added a Silent Auction to benefit our Alumni Scholarship Foundation. Some Alumni donate items to the sale along with other items procured from a local OSU gift and sportswear store. We typically ‘sell’ every item up for auction.

This luncheon often allows some classes to have ‘mini’ reunions! We always recognize the oldest and youngest alum attending, the classes with the most in attendance, any former West teachers, and any Alumni Hall of Fame honorees in attendance.
We can always guarantee our alumni will make some unexpected connections during the day. This is one of our ‘Not to Be Missed’ events.
Event Date
The annual West High Alumni Association Christmas Luncheon is held in December at Raymond Memorial Golf Course, Schmidt’s Catering. Check the December calendar for the confirmed event date provided that all events are open per State of Ohio guidelines.
We will open the event at 11:00 am with a cash bar and entertainment. In past years, we have enjoyed the West High Alumni Dance Band. A buffet style luncheon starts at noon with a Silent Auction throughout the cocktail hour and luncheon.
The money raised from the Silent Auction benefits the Scholarship Foundation for the current West High School graduates. President Vida Fulton Williams will present and provide remarks about the Alumni Association and the progress from the past year.
