Homecoming - September 27, 2013
Homecoming started off at 6:30 when the parade made its way around the Westgate area.

The parade was led off by the JROTC group, followed by the West Band, then several decorated vehicles with the Homecoming candidates. At the end of the parade was the Alumni float carrying several alumni.
Our alumni threw candy to the kids around the parade route who totally cheered our arrival.

The students had a great time also throwing candy to the kids along the parade route.

Convertibles have been replaced by SUVs and pickup trucks as the vehicle of choice for the Homecoming Queen and King candidates!

Yea, kids getting our candy!
More kids along the parade route.
JROTC - sorry it is so dark!

Cheerleaders, Weskets, and West Band!

The families waiting for the parade also cheered all of the students.
The band looked and sounded very good!
More king and queen candidates.

A lot of the students also walked along the parade route.

They sounded awesome!
Many of our Alumni athletes, cheerleaders, coaches, team managers, etc. who returned to be recognized on the field.

The first alumni introduced were the youngest attending.
The alumni were introduced from youngest to oldest.
Some of the older alums introduced.
We apologize for not being able to get the names of all attending.

One of our favorite alums to return, in the black shirt - Jerry Trabue '53 Jan. Jerry was a standout athlete at West, was recruited by Woody Hayes, and played at OSU for two years before being an injury stopped his college career.
To his right, in the black T-shirt is Rita Elliott Stethem '53 Jan, and in the orange shirt - T. Wayne Gatewood '74. T. Wayne ran track and played football at West. He then played football at West Virginia under the historic Bobby Bowden during one of Bowden's early coaching positions.

THEN - the Alumni Band took the field! Only two drum majors this year, but the band sounded just great. Thanks for all who returned> We want everyone who was there this year to return next year and bring another former band member with them!
David Gates '90 tried his best to give the attendees a back bend like when he was in high school!

The crowd cheered his efforts!
We hope the football team still under the stadium heard the combined bands playing. It was sure to get everyone enthused about the game to come.

Still waiting on the team.............
Finally, HERE COMES THE COWBOYS!!!
(We apologize - as the team ran on to the field, the camera setting was moved and all the photos were blurry.)

One of the Columbus Police on duty during the game visits the Cowboy Corral for a cup of warm coffee!
Magly Field was very crowded for Homecoming. That meant the Cowboy Corral concessions were also very busy all evening!

Script WEST - the first time in 7 years there were enough in the Alumni Band to do this.
Sadly, they only had enough to do Script W in recent years.

Homecoming King and Queen candidates.
Getting darker, but the Cowboy Corral is still busy, busy, busy!
All the pizza, all the hot dogs, all the brats - SOLD OUT!
We apologize for not getting any good photos of the football team. All we took were to blurry to post here.
Maybe it was because they were all moving so fast!!!!!!!!!!!
