l. to r.: Brent Bill, Bob Kern, Bob Sandusky, and Helen McDaniel's nephew, who accepted on her behalf.
John Bill '47 introduced his son, J. Brent Bill '69.
Mr. Bill was proud to let us know that both he and his wife, JoAnn Shields Bill are also West alums and both proud members of the 1947 class.
He and JoAnn are also very proud of their son, Brent. John and JoAnn are still homeowners on the Hilltop.
Brent Bill let the attendees know his education began at West Mound St., Highland Ave., and John Burroughs Elementary schools, Hilltonia Junior High, and
West High.
His three sisters are also West alums - Kathleen Kramer '72, Linda Bill '73, and Julie Duff '75.
Brent brought a copy of each of his books to donate to the West Library.
Brent currently lives on Ploughshares Farm, southwest of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He and Nancy have two sons, and he has four step-children.
2011 Hall of Fame program chair, and retired West teacher, Sara McPeek Sampson '69 presents Brent with his plaque. The pictured plaque will be on permanent display, with all of the other Hall of Fame plaques, in the display cases in the hallway outside the Library.
Bob Kern (left) was introduced by his brother,
Bill Kern '60 Jan. (on right)
Bob graduated from The Ohio State University then taught for five years at Everett Junior High before joining the Columbus Police Dept. in 1960
He retired from the Dept. in 2001 with the rank of Deputy Chief.

Bob introduced his extended family who attended the ceremony including four children and their spouses. Bob's sister, Nancy Kern, was in the 1963 class.
Ed Schmidt '45 and Robin Schmidt '49 Jan. introduced Helen McDaniel '36.
Helen died July 9, 2010 at the age of 91.
She was awarded three degrees from The Ohio State University, including Ph.D. in Social Work in 1969. Helen spoke at one of the Alumni Association meetings a few years ago. She praised her West teachers as her encouragement to pursue a college degree.

Helen's niece and nephew accepted the plaque for their aunt. They spoke about how much she would have appreciated the honor. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946.
Helen was a board member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. She also held numerous leadership roles in social services both locally and nationally.

Paul Pennell '57 introduced Bob Sandusky '57. Bob has been called an 'honorary class of 1957 member' because he didn't actually graduate with the class. He would have had it not been for his family moving out of the area at the beginning of his senior year.
But Bob has always considered West his Alma Mater, regularly attending the class of 1957 class reunions.
Bob told the group he got interested in airplane design at West when his drafting teacher, C.S. Kennedy, pulled out some plane pictures one day in class and told Bob to 'look at them!'
Bob has over thirty years of experience in aircraft design working at Boeing and Northrop. His is the first named inventory on both the F-20 Tigershark and the YF-23A Advanced Tactical Fighter. He was appointed Professor of Engineering and Applied Science for The George Washington University at the NASA Langley Research Center in Virginia. Bob now resides in Yorktown Virginia with his wife, Marcia
